Our thoughts about selling a horse
Since my hernias are still causing problems, we have decided to sell and lease some more ponies and just keep a handful at home.
We always need references, and since these are our friends and family we want to keep in touch and not being blocked and cut out from their lives. We really appreciate the horse buyers who have become our friends.
Everyone also knows that the last year has been one of the worst when it comes to selling horses - bad for the breeder and seller, and good for the horse buyers.
However, we do not want to be contacted if you do not have your finances in order or have a spouse who has not agreed on another horse yet. This needs to be finalized and ready before taking our time, simply because we need for the ponies to travel before winter comes. We are through with time wasters. This is a special situation, where we take reasonable offers for ponies who normally would cost around 5,000-25,000 EUR.
The right home is what is most important for us, and to feel that we have truly matched the ponies with the buyers.
Our thoughts about loaning or leasing a horse:
We are looking for long-term (several years) co-operations when it comes to the horses, as we are pausing the breeding since my stomach hernias are causing trouble again.
We need references to loan a horse to someone, and the horse needs to be trained, ridden or shown during the time so that they actually raise in value, and not just go to someone who will use them to breed and make money out of our investments. If that cannot be done and is of breeding age, they are leased for a monthly fee.
If we offer a pregnant mare for loan, the foal is sold in utero and must carry a combination of our stud name and the stud name of the one loaning the mare, when registering the foal.
If we offer a stud stallion for loan, he must be trained during the time and also kept over the winter for the lessee to have 100% of the fees from visiting mares. Otherwise 50% goes to us.
The lessee pays for all costs of the horse during the lease/loan time.
